Dos and Don'ts in Gambling
It has been both a historical and public knowledge that one of the major downfalls of rich people is gambling. And if you are a gambler, you might just be among those who are in danger of bankruptcy.
Gambling and/or playing casino is indeed leisurely. The adrenaline and suspense of gambling, betting in a horse-track lottery, playing in a casino game or any card game, can help you ease out and forget your worldly problems.
But like alcoholism or smoking, it can become an addiction and may lead your way towards indigence. You may say that your problems go down the drain every time you gamble, but beware and BE AWARE. Your assets and even your future earnings might go down the drain as well even before you know it.
To keep you secured (financially, physically and psychologically), here are some important tips to remember when gambling:
1. Before going to the gambling place, always set a MAXIMUM limit of money you are willing to lose and STICK with it.
2. If you know you are rich and you are playing with a richer person who happens to be more proud and braggart than you are, LEARN TO EAT YOUR PRIDE. Avoid trying to keep up and trying to look like a big player risking more than you are willing to lose. There is no shame in just stopping.
3. Learn to accept when you lose. Read #1.
4. Avoid using your credit cards in placing your wager. If you keep on doing this, you might lose track of your debts and end up with a negative salary.
5. In every round, always compare the money that you have won versus the money you have foregone. Your winning should be at a break-even against your losses. Learn to know when enough is ENOUGH.
6. If you have lost so much, do not try to win your money back by gambling more. This is almost always the culprit of huge losses in a casino, gamblers chasing loses. Once you reach your limit stop gambling and come back another day when your luck might be better.
7. DON'T GET CAUGHT CHEATING. This will be a most expensive lesson if you are caught trying to cheat a casino. This is no way to try and score a big cash win. Gamble honestly and smartly.
10. Remember that there is always tomorrow and you can have another time to play.
Following these rules and most of all using common sense will keep your gambling adventures on the fun side and not on the poor dark side.
